Founded in 2019 by Jacob Bowman, the Cincinnati Barbarians had humble beginnings, a few young men, a suit of armor, and a rented old karate studio were our beginnings. As members and equipment grew so did the opportunities presented to the group. The Barbarians quickly became a mainstay at the Ohio Renaissance Festival, they began hosting their own annual tournament, Cincinnati Siege, which has now grown to be one of the biggest armored combat events in North America. As well as hosting monthly Fight Knights, giving Barbarians and other members of the community a chance to test their skills, as well as introducing the sport of buhurt to the world.
The Barbarians and its members have traveled to and fought in 12 states, and brought home many medals for their efforts. Competing is only half the game though as the Barbarians focus on a kind welcoming and positive community is their driving force. The Barbarians welcome everyone regardless of their background, fitness level or any other metric, so that everyone can take part in and enjoy this crazy sport and hobby that has become our lifestyle. Everyday we live by and strive to exhibit our motto, Stronger Together.

Jacob Bowman, Chairman, Founder
Jacob founded the Barbarians in 2019, and lead its early growth setting the Barbarians on the path that they have gone. Having fought and medaled in many events Jacob is a force to be reckoned with in the list

Cade McLarty, President, Team Captain,
Cade began his journey in armored combat in early 2020 with the Barbarians, in the years he has spent in the sport Cade has dedicated himself to improving not only the team but the sport of buhurt as well.

Mike Drake, Vice President, Instructor
Mike has been involved in armored combat since 2021, he has fought with the Barbarians in many events over the years, and has been the driving force for our integration of technology into the sport

Travis Young, Treasurer, Instructor
Travis has been with the Barbarians since 2022, and has been a staple fighter in the barbarians competitive roster as a rail. Travis brings his own version of unique view points to the team, always driving for improvement in the way we train and for the melee team specifically.

Chris Rack, Secretary, Instructor
Chris has been with the Barbarians since 2022. Chris focuses in duels and pro-fights inside the list, outside it Chris keeps us all going as our quartermaster, in charge of all repairs he trains our fighters on how to maintain their gear.
